Menzies Research Centre Nick Cater says the government's plan to install 22 solar panels every day for the next eight years, alongside wind turbines, is "nonsense" and unlikely to achieve its objectives.
“They will need fossil fuels,” Mr Cater told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“They will need coal and gas for many years, many decades to come.”
