This is a video of the last Space Shuttle Launch from NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). This video was shot from the US Astronaut Hall of Fame on July 8, 2011 at about 11:29am. This launch was given a 30% chance of launching on that day as there was a massive tropical system that had moved in the day before and dumped a huge amount of rain on Cape Kennedy the day before including having a lightning strike less than a mile away from the pad. The weather was beautiful on launch day and it went off with only a 5 minute delay due to a faulty sesnor on the pad saying the gasious ventelator cap at the top of the launch tower had not fully retracted. The ventelator cap os known at NASA as the beanie cap, but Astronauts call it "the parking brake".
NASA really did a nice job filling the schedule with speakers telling us the history of the area as well as two veteran Space Shuttle Astronauts Bruce Melnick and Jon McBride followed by a Q&A session and photo oppurtunity.
