Join me on this adventure while I pan, sluice and dredge a small creek for lost lode gold. Located on this creek is a working underground lode mine. It has been mined for nearly a century. In the early days of this operation the miners were using a gold recovery table after crushing the ore. It was a prototype and imported from Germany. For one reason or another the miners lost a recoverable amount of gold off that table and it went into the settling ponds. Some of tailings made its way into the creek and concentrated in the gravels. It's this gold that I'm trying to recover. I expect this gold to be difficult to capture do to its size and flat shape. I also experience some grief running my own equipment, my highbanker dredge to be specific. I'm testing a new to me pump and a 1983 motor that I recently refurbished. I'll also prospect for placer gold above the lode claim to see what kind of placer gold is in the creek.
