I finally moved into a place with a dedicated space for a workshop (which means no more building stuff on the wobbly back decking of the previous place!). Ever since I first saw the dining room, I have wanted to build a wall unit to go along the back wall, but it seemed like an overwhelming amount of work so I kept putting it off. After a lot of design and planning, I decided to break it down into 5-6 separate builds to make it much more manageable but also give me some milestones to celebrate along the way.
The first piece I built was this record player cabinet, complete with vinyl storage, a couple of small storage boxes, and a place for the hi-fi amplifier to go. It was built out of spotted gum veneered birch plywood, and regular birch plywood finished with a dark green paint job.
As usual I learned a great deal along the way, and I'm super happy with how it turned out. Can't wait to get started on the next part of the DIY project!
