Some fun facts about KUMQUATS:
- The English name “kumquat” comes from the Cantonese “gam-gwat”, literally meaning “golden orange” or “golden tangerine.”
- The kumquat plant is native to south Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
- Kumquats are slow-growing evergreen shrubs that are 2.5 to 4.5 meters tall.
- The kumquat tree can produce hundreds of fruits each year.
- Kumquat symbolized good luck in China and other Asian countries.
- Kumquats don’t grow well from seeds and so are propagated using rootstock of another citrus fruit. But we did!!
- Kumquats are a rich source of vitamin A and beta-carotene, both of which are good for vision.
- They are high in calcium which helps to protect your bones over the longer term.
- There are 8 varieties of Kumquat.
