World War 2 wasn’t France’s finest hour. But how did Nazi Germany smash them so quickly? The Allies had more men, tanks and artillery than the Germans, and the French army was one of the strongest in the world. Yet, in only 6 weeks, the Germans managed to carve through the Allied defences, run the British off mainland Europe, and crush Belgium, the Netherlands and most notably France into surrender. The video in the related link explains why the French were defeated so quickly during the Battle for France in 1940.
