Fairfield police are asking for the public's help to find the person they said carjacked an Amazon driver at gunpoint and stole his delivery van. It happened just days before Christmas during a delivery on Woodrow Avenue between Pease Avenue and Mill Hill Terrace in the Southport section of town. Just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, an Amazon driver got out of the van to drop off a package, which is when a masked man dressed in black jumped through an open passenger-side door, according to police. The driver tried to stop the theft, but the suspect pulled a gun and threatened him before driving off, police said. One woman who lives in the neighborhood but didn’t want to speak on camera told News 12 the driver ran to her door for help and was clearly distraught. She said he asked her to call 911, which she did, since his phone was in the stolen van. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 203-254-4840.
