The session will feature a demonstration of a map-based application that is being used by the cities of Lancaster and Reading to capture, bring together, and map information from a variety of sources for the purpose of identifying blighted properties and targeting effective strategies to address blight. Relevant data includes but is not limited to vacant unit structures, tax delinquent properties, outstanding code violations, field surveys, and mortgage foreclosures. The session will feature presentations by a representative of the company that has developed the application and representatives from the two cities who will speak about how they are using these mapping and survey applications to more effectively address abandoned and blighted properties.
