2B Umpire Laz Diaz ejected Seattle manager Scott Servais for disputing warnings following hit by pitches during the 7th inning in Minnesota. Report: [ Ссылка ]
In the top half, Seattle's Ty France was hit by Cody Stashak's pitch while in the bottom, Minnesota's Byron Buxton was hit by Will Vest's pitch. After the latter HBP, HP Umpire Manny Gonzalez convened the umpires and the crew opted to issue warnings to both teams.
Contrary to popular myth, a pitch need not be intentionally thrown at a batter in order for warnings to be administered (for ejections, the pitch MUST be deemed intentional pitched at the batter). Instead, Official Baseball Rule 6.02(c)(9) states that "if, in the umpire's judgment, circumstances warrant, both teams may be officially 'warned' prior to the game or at any time during the game."
Furthermore, a manager or coach is not permitted to exit the dugout to dispute a warning. if the manager starts toward the field, the umpires shall warn the manager to stop. If the offending manager continues to argue, the umpires may expel the manager from the game.
