There’s a village in Korea populated by characters from faraway lands. Fairy tales come to life with various sculptures and displays. In today’s close up, we’re off to the Incheon Fairy Tale Village.

A 200 meter walk from the road across the Incheon train station plaza takes us to the entrance of the fairy tale village.
[Soundbite] Kim Hong-seob(Incheon, Jung-gu District Mayor) : "This area was an outdated corner of Incheon's former downtown district. The once dilapidated area is turning into a vigorous town as the city joined hands with local residents to paint murals, install sculptures and decorate the town's infrastructure."
A fairy tale land unfolds before our eyes in each and every alley. There's Cinderella dancing with the prince and also Red Riding Hood and the wolf.
[Soundbite] Kim Ae-gyeong('Fairy Tale Village' Resident) : "Every house is painted beautifully. The town is becoming more live with more visitors."
The parking lot of a church has turned into Noah's Ark. A telegraph pole is transformed into the beanstalk from the children's story Jack and the Beanstalk. Street lamp posts are designed with adorable animal friends. You can even take pictures sitting on the Little Mermaid's shell or in a Trump soldier chair (from Alice in Wonderland). The fairy tale village brims with eleven themed alleyways and as many as 140 wall paintings. In the Dorothy alley, visitors see the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. Here, an entire building has turned into a princess' castle. Rapunzel with her long hair and Snow White and the poisoned apple vividly come to life.
[Soundbite] "Everywhere is a photo zone here. Wherever you go, it's so lovely."
We now head to what's called a trick-art center where people can take out of the ordinary pictures. Trick art creates an illusion making two dimensional paintings appear as three dimensional. Everyone becomes an actor. Fun facial expressions make each picture extra special.
