Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal on Friday presented the second full budget of the second Pinarayi government for the fiscal 2023-24, . There is no change in the amount of social welfare pension distributed by the state government. 1600 per month will be given to those who are eligible for the next financial year as well to be continued. The finance minister said that there is a situation where the pension cannot be increased.
The government is disbursing social welfare pension to 50.66 lakh people in the state. Apart from this, the government provides welfare fund board pension to 6.73 lakh members of welfare fund boards who have no income of their own. 4.28 lakh people are also receiving pension through income-earning welfare boards. In this way, a total of 62 lakh people are getting a pension of Rs 1600 each. Meantime, Finance Minister K N Balagopal announced a scheme of 50 crore in the budget for optometry. This project was introduced in the name 'Nerkazcha'. The minister informed that this is a project where all families of the state will be subjected to eye examination with the aim of eye health for all. The project will be completed in four years.
