For much of the late 1940s and 1950s, Madhubala was widely considered to be the most beautiful actress in Hindi cinema.
Despite her popularity, not much was really known by the general public about the elusive Madhubala. In this video, I discuss the book:
I want to live: The Story of Madhubala by Khatija Akbar 📖
This book fills in the gaps regarding Madhubala's life - the topics which I explore in this video - part 1- include: Madhubala as a child actor, Madhubala's pop culture relevance and her work/life balance.
Throughout this video essay, I compare the life of Madhubala to her "Western counterpart" - Marilyn Monroe. There are major similarities between these two women, that I found both interesting & intriguing.
