The RNLI coastguard saved Mitch Hole (top left) and David Black (bottom left) who were four miles from their target island in the Bristol Channel. Their blow-up vessel was sinking (bottom left), and they'd already drifted for five miles without an oar. However, neither had noticed - and they even told their rescuers that they planned on completing their ill-thought escapade.
