Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima FlushBar crossbars. These ultra-quiet bars are going to let you mount carriers and accessories on the roof of your vehicle. They work with factory raised side rails, track systems, and permanent mount applications. They do, however, require custom Yakima fit kits to ensure a good fit to the vehicle. Fit kits are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. Now these bars are very aerodynamic. They're sleek, they're highly functional, and extremely quiet.
These bars feature a tapered, wing-shaped design, so a little bit thicker in the front, thinner right here in the back. They also feature the built-in wind diffuser. Those components combined dramatically reduce wind noise and vibration as you travel down the road. The air foil-style bars cut down on drag, which is going to help maintain your vehicle's fuel efficiency. Now when it comes to mounting accessories on these bars, the crossbars accommodate accessories that either mount in the built-in channel or accessories that clamp around the bars. If you're using the built-in channel, just remove the end cap, push down the rubber strip, and then you can slide in your channel-mount accessories wherever you need to, full length of the bar. No trimming or cutting of the rubber strip is required.
That's built in, and just got the push-down feature, so when the anchor is in there from the channel-mount accessory, this will eventually actually absorb around that anchor point. Again, no cutting or trimming required. The unit is also designed to work with most Yakima universal-mount bike, water, snow, and cargo accessories. They feature the innovation SmartFoot towers that ensure quick and easy installation on your roof. They're also compatible with the same-key system locks, so that way you can upgrade from the plastic locks to metal locks. Those are going to allow you to secure the rack to your vehicle.
SKS locks are sold separately and available at etrailer.com if interested. The bars are made from an aluminum construction so they're lightweight and corrosion-resistant. They feature a black powder-coated finish that's very durable, and it looks really nice on the bars as well. Then they feature the glass-filled plastic towers that are strong, rigid, UV and impact-resistant. Two bars are included. They feature a weight capacity of 165 pounds. These bars are available in a variety of lengths.

When it comes to the dimensions of the crossbar, front to back, just the bar measures about 3-5/8" wide. At the tallest or thickest point, it's only 1", so again, very aerodynamic.
