And saving the best to last, let's regain an upper deck and instead have the screaming sounds of Scotland, taking time with Tayside with a Dundee double decker, we have Volvo Ailsa WTS273T
273 was new in 1979 to Tayside Regional Council, comprising an order of 21
Mk 2 Ailsas in the WTS*T batch, these operated on town routes in and around Dundee for all of its working life. Photo evidence that Tayside ran their Ailsas to 1989, so withdrawal I assume to be sometime in the early 1990s, (if anyone has any further information on garage allocation and life outside of Scotland, please do let me know)
Today's Ailsa marks the final video from Wythall Transport Museum's Twilight Running Day with a run up to Maypole Island and back to the grounds of Wythall.
273 is powered by a front-mounted Volvo TD70H engine and was initially fitted with a 5-speed SCG semi-automatic gearbox, but was converted to fully auto. So if you want to hear an Ailsa being thrashed to high heaven, please have a listen, and I hope you enjoy!
