New 2021 MERCEDES EQA Production at Rastatt Plant in Germany
The Mercedes EQA is a fully electric SUV, segment C. Currently the first generation is marketed, presented in 2021. The Mercedes EQA is characterized by being an electric crossover, sharing dimensions and platform with the Mercedes GLA and being more compact and affordable than the Mercedes EQC. The Mercedes EQA is manufactured in Rastatt (Germany) for the European market, although it is also produced in Beijing (China), for other markets.
The Mercedes EQA will have a range with powers between 140 and 200 kW (190 and 272 hp), front and all-wheel drive options, and battery packs with an official range (according to WLTP) between 426 and 500 kilometers.
At its launch, the Mercedes EQA 250 is marketed, with 140 kW (190 hp) of power, front-wheel drive and a 66.5 kWh battery pack that gives it an official range of 426 kilometers. It will have integrated fast charging up to 120 kW, with which it can recharge its batteries from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. Its batteries are located at the base of the vehicle and its electric motors on the front axle.
Later, more powerful versions of the Mercedes EQA will be marketed, up to 272 HP of power. There will also be all-wheel drive versions, which use motors on the rear axle. And there will be versions of extended autonomy, with batteries of greater capacity with which the official autonomy will exceed 500 kilometers.
Mercedes-Benz aims for the top in electric propulsion. Gradually the models in the range are electrified and this is a key element of the “Ambition 2039” strategy for the process of eliminating CO₂ in the models.
In 2022, a total of eight Mercedes-EQ electric vehicles will be built at seven locations on three continents.
Mercedes-Benz's global production network is ready for the company's electric vehicles and integrates the production of Mercedes-EQ models into its existing facilities.
EQS, the first luxury electric sedan from Mercedes-Benz, will start production in the first half of 2021 at the factory “Factory 56” in Sindelfingen (Germany). With the start of production of the EQA electric compact SUV at the Rastatt (Germany) plant and the start of production of the EQB at the Hungarian Kecskemet plant, the company is taking important steps to eliminate CO₂ from its models.
