Part Seven
In this episode we continue on with laying down and installing the metal roofing on our cabin! We begin on the steeper section of the roof and then move on to the loft floor joists. Heavy rainfall caused us to pivot in our plans for the first weekend and we ended up framing in all of the joists for the floor of the loft instead of focusing only on the roof. During the second weekend we ended up finishing the other side of the roofing. We only are missing 4 sheets of the roofing now and we are waiting to frame in the exterior loft walls so that we can sheet them with plywood, as well as tar paper and bend the metal roofing up along the seam of the wall to prevent any water coming in between the two different sections of the roof.
In the middle of nowhere in the Canadian forest, we are attempting to build a Timber Framed Cabin and we are documenting the process to show you how to build a cabin yourself. Our cabin is completely off the grid and we are working on it mainly with the help of friends and family. The goal is to live there while becoming fully self sufficient!
