"One of the reasons we are running this project is because we diagnose late in this country; the later we diagnose, the harder cancer is to treat.
If we can diagnose earlier we can potentially save a lot of lives and enhance the quality of lives."
The Suspected CANcer (SCAN) diagnostic pathway is a pioneering collaborative project supported by Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Cancer Research UK and the University of Oxford Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences.
The project is being run by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The project has the potential to save lives and improve cancer outcomes for patients with early non-specific symptoms by reducing the time to diagnosis.
