2017 has been a great year for horror movies. The Alien film franchise made a return with Alien: Covenant and M. Night Shyamalan made a resurgent comeback into the genre with his compelling psychological horror flick Split.

Creepy dolls also didn’t disappoint this year. Chucky made a return to the big screen with Cult of Chucky and Annabelle: Creation didn’t disappoint when it came to jolting audiences out of their seats.

But because it was such a good year for the genre, there are some horror movies that were overlooked. Here are the most underappreciated horror movies of 2017.
