Remember, FRESH LIME JUICE is key! Along with a decent 100% agave tequila (Espolon blanco is a very good value tequila, especially for margaritas), these three ingredients are enough to make world class margaritas in your home bar. On that note, expensive, premium tequila is NOT RECOMMENDED to be used for margaritas! KEEP IT SIMPLE.
Classic Margarita:
2 oz blanco tequila 100% agave
1 oz Cointreau
3/4 oz fresh lime
Shake with ice and strain over ice in a double rocks glass
Tommy's Margarita (popular modern variation):
2 oz blanco tequila (they currently use Espolon blanco, which I mentioned above)
1 oz cocktail ready agave syrup*
1 oz fresh lime
Shake with ice and strain over ice in a double rocks glass
*Cocktail ready agave syrup is a 1:1 dilution of agave nectar with water
