Kevin Powell is a poet, journalist, essayist, blogger, editor, filmmaker, public speaker, civil and human rights activist, and the author of 14 books, including his newest title, When We Free The World, a collection of essays plus one poem about the present and future of America (paperback on Amazon and ebook and audio book on Apple Books). Kevin's 15th book will be a biography of Tupac Shakur. He is also working on his first play and directing, writing, and producing documentary film about healthy manhood versus toxic manhood called “What’s Going On.” Among Kevin's most recent writings is a cover story on Stacey Abrams for The Washington Post Magazine. He lives in New York City, the borough of Brooklyn.
