Gravity Rush Remastered (PS4) Review
Originally released back in 2012 for the PS VITA, Gravity Rush is an open-world, 3rd person, action adventure kind of a thing. Here I review the remastered edition, released for the PS4 in 2016. You play as Kat, a charming young amnesiac who awakens in an inexplicably scanty super-hero outfit, only to discover she can fly by means of manipulating gravity, but only in the company of her trusty feline sidekick Dusty. The two make ample use of Dusty’s mysterious gravity shifting powers to help local authorities regain control of their Newtonianly-challenged city, beating up a plethora of animal-like gravity ghosts along the way and eventually defeating an authoritarian military coup. (Military coup? Yeah, they even throw in some politics toward the end!)
The verdict on Gravity Rush is… give it a shot! The visuals are outstanding, and gameplay is fun and engaging, and the mid-game story is captivatingly trippy. I picked up the Gravity Rush Remastered edition during the PS Store’s end-of-year sale a couple months back for $9.99, and the game is definitely worth it. You get all the DLC included in the remaster, comprising six additional side missions featuring three additional outfits, if you’re into that kinda thing. Anyway, Gravity Rush is definitely worth a try if you’re at all curious!
