Do not resuscitate means that in the event of the heart stopping (cardiac arrest) the patient is not resuscitated with CPR. If someone is DNR, this does not automatically mean treatment is withheld. They may still undergo treatment for medical conditions. It ONLY means they don't want resuscitation attempted in the event of cardiac death.
