Time to kick the king of Jotunheim.
To reach this ending, just play the game normally and reach Sacred Phase in Chapter 8 (regardless if you're aiming for Ending A).
Surt comes in with two yellow Vanir enemies. These guys aren't capable of much, but they have 100% block chance against attacks and can be a nuisance if your team doesn't have characters capable of unblockable attacks or magic. They do mediocre damage and don't have much health otherwise, but it's advisable to take care of them first.
The big cheese himself isn't that notable. He obviously specializes in the fire element; most of his attacks are physical, and his magic is mediocre. His turns are pretty scripted: for about 3 turns, he'll do some attacks that can be anything between a basic physical attack, Flare (3x fire attack hits on one target), Flare Storm (hits everyone with fire), Flare Strike (pretty strong attack against a single target), and the spells Fire Lance and Sacred Javelin. On his 4th turn he'll cast the great magic Ifrit Caress for decent magic fire damage on everyone, on his 5th turn he'll cast Might Reinforce to boost his physical attacks, and then return to the start of the pattern (every 4th turn he casts Ifrit Caress, but won't use Might Reinforce anymore).
His basic physical attacks have a high chance of Faint, so it's not a bad idea to have Stun Checks (which also doubles as 50% fire resist accessories, reducing his damage output). Sap Guard to debuff his defenses, Might Reinforce to boost your party, wail on him and heal if necessary - shouldn't take that long. You don't really need Guts and Auto Item, but they are nice to have in a pinch.
For variety's sake, I decided to use a team of the arguably worst characters in the game, and no mages. Also no Guts and Auto item, too, on Easy Mode (which is actually harder than Normal and Hard, since you don't get many powerful items exclusive to these modes).
