Approximately 10 days prior to filming this... The LG - WT5001CW washer suffered terminal rusting of the top around the left side and back, requiring replacement. We happily motored along for those 10 days until the washer began screaming, pain, pain. Yes, her bearing assembly is now gone and she's also not switching to spin to get all the water out. Those 2 symptoms lead us to a diagnosis of a new bearing/clutch assembly install. You may find it listed under different names but the part number for my washer is AEN73131403.
Stepping through what needed to happen we encounter removing the wash tub... A day and one-half later I continue to fight with the 7 Phillips-head screws holding the top ring on as they also suffered a case of terminal rust. Four of the seven screws with and poking prodding were finally out with 3 of the remaining screws being drilled, and then extracted with a small needle-nose vise grip. A quick trip to Peter's Hardware in Jensen Beach and I left with my replacement screws.
This really isn't a how-to, rather documenting my experience. You'll find several pretty good "how-to" on YouTube and I would suggest watching more than one as there are different perspectives & issues encountered.
As a bonus; the one thing I really didn't see highlighted on anyone's re-assembly, the placement of the tub is important. There are 3 raised nubs on the cast wheel assembly under the tub that must be aligned once dropped over the wheel studs. Failure to align properly will result in the basket being uneven and demonstrated by noise and ground plastic.. ask how I know
