kokand is a city in Fergana Region in eastern Uzbekistan, at the southwestern edge of the Fergana Valley. The population of Kokand approximately 400000. The city lies 228 km southeast of Tashkent, 115 km west of Andijan, and 88 km west of Fergana. It is nicknamed "City of Winds". In 1877 when the first ethnographic works were done under the new imperial Russian administration.Imperial forces of Russian Empire under Mikhail Skobelev captured the city in 1883 which then became part of Russian Turkistan.
The city and the entire eastern 3/4 of the Fergana Valley were including in Uzbekistan in the 1920.
This city is very old.
now in these day kokand is unique & modern city in Uzbekistan.Today there are universities and colleges,There are roads, there are hospitals and there are many basic facilities that are available here today ,there is a huge park inside the city,
There are Russian-era buildings here.
There are also Greek-era buildings.
The city has shopping malls.
