You are making your music, possibly even looking into releasing an album. Due to tradition of many band generations the standard practice is to make the record and then sell it, but is this the right strategy?
In 2017 people want a story more than ever. They want to be emotionally attached to the artist as well as the music and this takes time. By the time an album has been released it's almost old news due to how fast we consume music and products.
You need to be selling that album before you have even written the first song. You should be building excitement daily so the album release is just a payoff for all of the hard work put in by the audience as well as the band.
Stop waiting to promote your album and start selling the album which hasn't even been made yet!!
