(28 Apr 2017) SCHWARZENEGGER SIGNS CLIMATE AGREEMENT IN PARIS
R20 president and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger met with Paris mayor Friday (28 APRIL 2017) to sign an environmental cooperation agreement between sub-national governments with R20 organization and the world's major cities part of the C40 group.
Schwarzenegger funded the R20, an organization helping sub-national governments around the world to develop and communicate low-carbon and climate resilient economic development projects.
The Hollywood star and former governor of California, who arrived in a large Range Rover SUV, re-iterated that environmental change "always come from the ground up" and that "we should not just make it the responsibility of national governments or of capitals all over the world to reduce greenhouse gases and to make this a safer world".
Schwarzenegger and Hidalgo had met previously in 2014 during the United Nation's Climate Conference, or COP 21, and seemed to be in friendly terms, hugging each other and exchanging kisses on the cheeks.
Schwarzenegger is to meet with French President Hollande at the Elysee palace later today.
