美, 유엔 안보리에 미얀마 군부 제재·무기금수 촉구
The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations has urged for sanctions against the Myanmar military... amid the ongoing violence since the coup.
At Friday's informal virtual meeting, Linda Thomas-Greenfield called for the international community to take "concrete action" against the military, including an arms embargo... and enact sanctions against its holding companies... as well as those who seek to profit from the violence.
The envoy said the U.S. would do everything in its power... along with its allies, to help the people of Myanmar.
The meeting was also attended by a representative of Myanmar's post-coup committee.
Other Security Council members, including Estonia, echoed her call, but Russia is said to have objected to the meeting.
