According to the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change “Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability”, beside the essential actions to limit global warming and its effects through decarbonization, humans need to adapt and develop resilience to the unavoidable impacts of climate change that are already happening, because inaction will multiply the costs they will have to bear.
Since the aim of the new EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change is to accelerate action, it becomes crucial to focus on developing solutions and to move from planning actions to their implementation. The results of the Study on Adaptation Modelling, commissioned by the European Commission's DG CLIMA to a group of international scientists coordinated by the CMCC Foundation focus in a broad and comprehensive manner on adaptation modelling with the objective to support better-informed decision-making. During this final event the results of the study will be discussed in the light of the recent evolution of policy landscape on adaptation.
The event was organised by the European Commission, DG Climate Action in cooperation with the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change, Deltares, the Institute for Environmental Studies - Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Paul Watkiss Associates
