It was only a short time ago that the Bosnian War cost the lives of around 100,000 people and appalling images of concentration camps and mass graves shocked the world. In 2012, almost 20 years after that bloody conflict started, the trial began of the Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladić at the Yugoslavia tribunal in The Hague. He was accused of crimes including leading the siege of Sarajevo and murdering over 7,000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica. Filmmakers Rob Miller and Henry Singer shed light on the war from two stark angles: on the one hand the public prosecutors and visiting victims and witnesses; and on the other Mladić’s lawyers, supporters and family members, who consider him a patriotic hero. The film goes further to questions whether an international tribunal can achieve justice, if it won’t bring back the dead and the accused refuses to acknowledge the verdict?
