With Dr. Jordan Swanson and Dr. Nicolas Sierra
Acknowledging the evolving needs of patients, surgeons, and health systems in low-resource settings is generating upheaval within some of the conventional mechanisms, techniques, and goals of traditional cleft care outreach. New data sources and methodologies are helping clarify opportunities for improving cleft care, particularly with improved outcomes and sustainability in mind. These also create new challenges and questions for local cleft professionals and their NGO sponsors. Please join us in discussing the key global paradigm shifts.
Dr. Jordan Swanson is a cleft surgeon and holds the Linton Whitaker Endowed Chair of Craniofacial Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He edited the recently-published Global Cleft Care in Low-Resource Settings and is a frequent collaborator with cleft teams, including in Nicaragua.
