When Ken asked Microsoft MVP Jon Peltier to present to the Vancouver User Group, he agreed without having any idea of what topic he would discuss. But then he thought, "What are the two things I do the most in Excel?" That would be charting and VBA! So Jon will be talking about how to use VBA to help with charts.
Jon will start by recording a simple VBA macro, to get us all into a VBA mood, and to show a bit of the VBIDE (the VBA Editor). He uses the Macro Recorder a lot, by the way, especially to help explore the syntax needed for formatting chart elements. He'll show some VBA procedures that insert a chart, starting with this recorded code, with VBA giving the user more and more control over the output. Then Jon will demo how to insert multiple charts in one procedure. He'll show how to use VBA to format one chart. Then he'll apply this to formatting several charts at once. If time allows, Jon will also explain how VBA can resize and align a set of charts, and how VBA can easily manipulate data in a chart.
