Romanian brand Dacia has officially unveiled the Sandero hatchback and the next generation Logan sedan. New items received modern technologies in the field of comfort and safety. Sales are scheduled to start in the coming months.

The next generation Dacia Sandero and Logan are finally officially unveiled. These are literally brand new cars, as the Romanian brand has not only changed the platform on which they are built, but also managed to get rid of the budget car atmosphere that was inherent in the older versions of these models through a completely modern design.

The highly anticipated new items are now built on the CMF architecture used in the latest Renault Clio, giving them a wide range of comfort and safety features. The new Dacia Sandero and Logan now boast electric power steering and LED headlights, emergency braking assist, blind spot warnings, parking assistance (with front and rear sensors, rear camera) and even pull-away assistance.

Turbodiesel has been removed from the engine range.

Ditching the proven 1.5-liter dCi unit means the new Dacia models will be available exclusively with three-cylinder engines. The starting engine will be a naturally aspirated 65 horsepower 1.0-liter engine that will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission – only available on the regular Sandero and Logan. The “off-road” Sandero Stepway will not be sold with this base engine.

Next up is a 0.9-liter turbocharged engine with 90 hp. and the choice between a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. There is a more powerful 100 hp TCe powered by a six-speed manual transmission.

The new Sandero and Logan are much more complex in terms of design than their predecessors. This is especially true when looking at auto interiors where the somewhat spartan look of old cars has given way to a legally updated interior. Lower-spec cars get a multimedia system dubbed “Media Control” with a detachable smartphone stand, while more expensive models have an 8-inch tablet-style touchscreen.

The related infotainment system is called Media Display and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In the Media Nav version, you get not only navigation, as the name suggests, but even wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Depending on the specific infotainment system, cars come with two, four or six audio speakers, and a 3.5-inch digital display separates the analog dials of the instrument cluster. Bluetooth is standard on all trim levels.

While the new models will remain inexpensive vehicles, Dacia has prepared a wide range of features for them. Keyless entry, heated front seats, automatic air conditioning (with digital display), reversing camera, electric parking brake, automatic wipers and remote trunk release. Sandero will also be available with an electric glass sunroof.

It is worth noting that the Sandero Stepway has an impressive ground clearance of 174 mm, which is 41 mm more than the regular version of the model. It got the usual plastic bodywork and roof rails, as well as more powerful fenders and side moldings. The wheels may look like alloy wheels, but they are actually steel and are 16 inches in size. In the case of Stepway, there is an optional diamond cut kit.

Dacia promises that the new models will continue to be the best option for your B segment investment once Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan go on sale in the coming months.
