On 10/15/2022, at approximately 0227 hours, I TFC. Freeman was traveling east on I-20 in the right
lane when I observed a black-colored Mercedez Benz C230 coming from behind me in the left lane at a
high rate of speed. I checked this vehicle's speed with my Stalker DSR 2X radar at 98/70. This vehicle
never slowed down when approaching me or passing me. I activated my blue lights and siren and
initiated a traffic stop. The driver then made an improper lane change cutting across two east lanes of
travel, crossing over the gore area and exiting at exit 44 Thornton Road. At this time, it was evident that
the driver was not yielding to my blue lights and siren, initiating a pursuit. The driver then increased his
speed driving in an aggressive manner. Once exiting at Thornton Road, the driver made a right turn
failing to yield at the yield sign and began traveling south on Thornton Road. The driver failed to
maintain his lane while driving in a reckless manner showing no regard for the motoring public. The
driver then made a left turn onto Interstate West Parkway traveling east. The vehicle continued straight
taking Interstate West Parkway around traveling back west coming to the intersection of Interstate West
Parkway and Six Flags Road. The driver went through the stop sign at the intersection, lost control of
his vehicle, and left the roadway off the north shoulder. The vehicle struck power lines and also a
power box in a field. I exited my vehicle and gave the occupants of
the vehicle verbal commands to stay in the vehicle.
I approached the vehicle from the driver's side with my duty weapon pointed at the vehicle. Once
approaching the vehicle, I observed a black male sitting in the driver's seat. He was wearing a jean
jacket and jean pants. He was unable to exit the vehicle due to his driver's door being stuck and unable
to open. I had the driver exit the vehicle where he was placed under arrest and taken to the front of my
patrol vehicle. The driver was identified as Mr. Malik Deandre Bradford by his Georgia driver’s license
in his black wallet, found in his right front pocket. Mr. Bradford had two other occupants in his vehicle,
Mr. Verrenzo Bradford, who was the passenger in the rear right side of the vehicle, and also Ms.
Shanice Broady who was the front seat passenger. Ms. Broady stated, she attempted to tell Mr.
Bradford to stop, and he told her to shut up. I read Mr. Bradford his Miranda Warning and he had no
response. I took him not responding as a refusal to speak to me.
Mr. Bradford had an extremely strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he had very lethargic body language. Mr. Bradford would not make
any statements, so based off my observations, I placed Mr. Bradford under arrest for DUI. The Georgia
Implied Consent Notice was read for blood at 0240 hours, and he gave no response. Mr. Bradford was
placed in the rear of my patrol vehicle.
When entering my vehicle, I checked his vehicle information through GCIC, and his tag came back
expired. Mr. Bradford began to speak to me about how tight his handcuffs were, and I noticed his
speech to be slurred and slow. Mr. Bradford was transported to Douglas County Jail for a blood draw to
be performed. A search warrant for Mr. Bradford was applied for and signed by magistrate Judge Eddie
Barker. The blood draw was performed by Ms. Rayleen Cheatwood at 0455 hours and a sample of Mr.
Bradford’s blood was taken. Mr. Bradford was then taken to Cobb WellStar to be medically cleared. Mr.
Bradford would not respond to hospital staff when he was asked if anything hurt on his body. Mr.
Bradford was seen and released by hospital staff at Cobb WellStar. He was then transported to
Douglas County Sheriff's Office where he was turned over to jail staff for processing. He was issued
citations for Felony fleeing and attempt to evade police capture, DUI, speeding, and other traffic
charges related to this incident.
When checking Mr. Bradford's vehicle, I found a broken white Styrofoam cup in the middle driver's
console that appeared to have a tinted yellow liquid inside of it. I also found an unopened glass bottle
of 1500 Tequila in the passenger's side floorboard. Mr. Bradford's vehicle was turned over to Triple H
Wrecker Service.
Mr. Bradford's passengers were released at the scene without further incident.
