Never did the old lady read manuals on scientific stingless bee rearing let alone read or write in any language!
It all depends on the passion and the desire to be self-reliant economically...
Basically self-trained while helping her hubby down the years as another local beekeeper, she has acquired the expertise where many may fail so long it's stingless bee keeping.
She's none other than Apfü Pieno, wife of Amu Juhie Khate, from Punglwa 'B' Village under Peren district.
As a substitute for her husband who is rather helpless today (due to a mild stroke), her grit and determination to be a friend of the bees led her to become a full-fledged woman beekeeper. As of today, she usually harvest around 70-80 colonies annually while her husband calmly watches her from his seat and silently thank God for her deft hands working with stingless bees.
