▷ Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is believed to have fled the country, his whereabouts unknown. His family ruled over Syria for 50 years before rebel forces declared they captured the capital following a lightning advance.
▷ Prosecutors in South Korea have opened a case on President Yoon Suk Yeol following last week's martial law fiasco. His party is now preparing what it describes as his "orderly resignation" after President Yoon narrowly survived a parliamentary push to impeach him.
