How do fish reproduce?

When it comes to romance, you may have heard the expression “there are plenty of fish in the sea.” That’s true, but with nearly 30,000 fish species, there are many different reproduction strategies. Tuna use external fertilization, releasing millions of sperm and eggs in the waters of their spawning grounds. Great white sharks use internal fertilization, with eggs remaining inside the mother until the first to hatch eats its siblings and is born nourished and strong.
