Water surface tension may cause a lot of issues in agriculture. In typical solutions, water acts as a carrier for pesticides and fertilizers. Therefore, the better water spreads, the better results will be achieved.
As you can see in this video, the water by itself does not spread and instead maintains its bubble shape. However, a single drop of a surfactant (as seen in this video) can lower the water surface tension and therefore the water not only covers a wider area but does it evenly too.
