Suomenlinna Fortress - Helsinki
We took the ferry to Suomenlinna Sea Fortress. It is a 20 minute ferry ride each way, a Unesco World Heritage Site, Suomenlinna sea fortress is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Finland. Suomenlinna is also a suburb of Helsinki with around 800 residents. The fortress was shaped by three historic eras when it helped to defend first Sweden, then Russia and ultimately Finland. There are six kilometers of walls, 100 cannons, exciting tunnels and beautiful parks in the fortress. The ferry ride was chilly despite the winter gear we had on us. We spent around an hour on the fortress exploring around and flying the drone. We took the ferry back to Helsinki.
