Coldplay recently demonstrated the concept of "first time for everything."
The band was obliged to perform without a member during one of their Melbourne Music Of The Spheres tour shows, which was an unfortunate first in their history.
Coldplay's bassist, Guy Berryman, withdrew from the performance owing to a serious illness, and the Fix You hitmakers' lead man, Chris Martin, announced the news before their set began, according to Rolling Stone Australia.
"It's a shame but we waited for the last minute to tell you that our beautiful bass player Guy is very, very sick and will not be [playing] for the first time," Martin informed us.
He went on, "I'm sorry for the people down here who are waiting to meet Guy. He won't be able to play today. We'll have a somewhat different concert, and we'll try our best to make it fantastic, which I know will be since we're in Melbourne with all of you lovely people."
"If you notice certain errors and difficulties, it's because we don't have a bass player. We just had about an hour to sort everything out. And we've worked it out," the 47-year-old explained.
"We have a strange, extraterrestrial, bizarre buddy persona who plays or appears to play bass. So you'll hear Guy but won't see him. "Because he's vomiting," Martin explained.
Coldplay has further gigs set in Melbourne for October 31 and November 2 and 3, but whether Guy Berryman will return to the stage with the rest of his Coldplay bandmates is uncertain.
