What is a PRV? PRV is an abbreviation for Pressure Reducing Valve which is a valve used to reduce the pressure inside of a building. Often pressurized water from a public source comes to a property at a higher pressure than the building system should have. At times the pressure is over 100 PSI! Code limits this pressure to 80 PSI. The pressure reducing valve restricts the incoming pressure to the building, bringing it down to a safer pressure (45 PSI to 70 PSI) for use at fixtures and appliances.
