Easy to find and rich in silica, horsetail is a great ingredient for herbal teas and infusions. I'll show you how to find, dry, and use in teas. Silica supports healthy hair, skin, bones, joints, arteries, and is used in the production of collagen. Make your own silica "supplement" for free with horsetail :)
You can also use fresh horsetail (or a related plant called scouring rush) to scrub pots and pans or polish metal.
This dried horsetail can also be used to make tinctures, salves, or anything you like. For large amounts, use a dehydrator on herb setting. (The one I have: [ Ссылка ] ). Long term daily use of horsetail is not recommended because it may deplete thiamine (Vit B1) over time (though one study on horsetail extract used for one year, and improvements were seen on the osteoporosis patients in the study). Drying horsetail may potentially reduce this effect, but it is best to error on the side of caution.
Please do your own research if you intend to use daily or consult an herbalist, as I am simply sharing the results of my own research. This is not medical advice, and there are certain medications and medical conditions which can be effected by horsetail use, so please contact a herbalist or do research into your own situation to ensure it is safe for you :) Generally speaking, horsetail is safe.
Be sure to harvest from a clean area which is not treated with herbicides or contaminated due to prior industrial use, etc. (As with any wild harvested plant).
