On April 6 and 7, 2003, Alpha Company, 3rd AABn, attached to 3rd battalion 4th Marines, engaged the Iraqi Republican Guard in a firefight at the Diyala River Bridge on the southeast side of Baghdad. During the firefight, several Marines were wounded, and two amtrackers were killed: Corporal Jesus Martin Antonio Medellin and Lance Corporal Andrew Julian Aviles. Rest in peace, my brothers.
