Since returning to the mainline in February 2019, LMS Stanier 5XP Jubilee' 4-6-0 45596 'Bahamas' has surprised many with her capabilities on challenging routes up and country. After a number of tours in the south west, some of which being double-headed with LNER Thompson B1 61306 'Mayflower', 'Bahamas' was back to show what she could do on a roaring romp along the East Coast Main Line.
The 'Jubilee' was at the helm of a Steam Dreams excursion to York, running from Ealing Broadway up the ECML as far as Hambleton Junction, then via Sherburn-in-Elmet and Church Fenton to the medieval capital of the north. In this video, we see 45596 fly through Doncaster on time at 13:55, whistling to multiple onlookers who quickly took to their phones to capture the moment.
I hope you all enjoy this short video. I did also film the arrival into York but was ultimately bowled out by an incoming TransPennine Express unit. Special thanks to the Bahamas Locomotive Society and the Steam Dreams team for a very good tour. Feel free to comment and subscribe!
