The celebration of suffrage centennials inevitably honor Susan B. Anthony. In her 1920 book, "Jailed for Freedom," suffrage activist Doris Stevens called Susan B. Anthony the "first militant suffragist." Doris Stevens was a key player in the National Woman's Party, and her writing was pivotal in documenting its events, activities, and accomplishments in the long struggle to pass the 19th amendment which extended the franchise to women.
This is one of a series of videos celebrating the suffrage centennial, as well as women's freedom to vote. News and stories of the suffrage movement. Building links between the past, present, and the future.
