Organization and community are vital in a disaster, and we’ll be sharing more details of what we’ve been learning in future videos!

Natalie created and refined a system for tree work and repairs at the Barnardsville Mutual Aid hub, where folks have come together to coordinate everything from food and water distribution to first aid and emotional support work. Volunteers lined up from within Barnardsville, and then began to come from all over the region, wanting to help those most impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Trees that fell down in the storm are being turned into lumber to rebuild and firewood for winter. This video was shot almost a week ago, and temps are now falling quickly and nights are in the 30’s.

Wild Abundance is a unique skills education center nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, just outside Asheville.
