'Project 100,000' was a highly controversial project during the Vietnam War era masterminded by Robert McNamara, the U.S. defense secretary.
Starting in 1966, and known pejoratively as 'McNamara's Misfits,' the initiative recruited low IQ men - some of whom did not even know left from right.
