On Republic Day, the Central Government recognizes and honours India’s brave hearts. This year, India has decided to pay tribute to its Galwan Valley heroes, who paid a vital role and lost their lives in the clash with China.

Maha Vir Chakra is the second highest wartime gallantry award in the country. This year, the Maha Vir Chakra award is honoured, Colonel Santosh Babu. He made supreme sacrifice in the fight with Chinese troops in Ladakh.

The Indian troops were led by Colonel Santosh Babu, who despite being grievously injured, led hand to hand combat against China.
