Dominic M. Miller from Kansas City and Lyndell Mays from Raytown, Missouri, were charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon related to a shooting incident that occurred following the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade on February 14.
Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker made the announcement on Tuesday. The incident, which was captured on newly released video footage, involved an argument between Mays and another individual after the rally, leading to a rapid escalation where Mays, Miller, and potentially others drew firearms and began shooting. The altercation and subsequent shooting did not stem from any prior contact or knowledge between the parties involved.
Miller is specifically accused of killing Lisa Lopez-Galvan in the shootout. Both Miller and Mays sustained injuries during the incident and were hospitalized; however, they are considered in custody with a set bond of $1 million each. The total number of shooters involved has not been disclosed, but there is a commitment to holding each accountable. #shorts
